Question about M1

Hello. I have a pattern that calls for M1. I know how to do the M1 M1A and M1F M1B, However when I M1 Picking up the strand between the two stitches with the left needle and knitting into the back I notice a hole. Can I substitute M1B or M1F for a traditional M1 and get the same results ?? Thanks

Usually you can use any increase you want and that works with your pattern. Some use the actual stitch to increase so you have to be careful when you count your stitches.

Usually when you pick up the strand and knit into the back of it, there’s no hole because the stitch is twisted. Unless you knit tight. What you describe is M1F/B though, so I’m not sure which one you’re talking about.
