Question about decreasing for vest armhole

I am making a very basic vest (knit). I am at the armhole shaping point and since this is my first attempt at a vest I need some clarification of the pattern.

I am decreasing 1 stitch each side every RS row 8 times. Is there a specific decreasing stitch I should use such as right slanting or left slanting?

Generally the decs slant toward the center of the piece - ssk at the beg of row, k2tog at the end. But ‘full fashioned’ knitting slants them the opposite, toward the edges. Try out both on a small square, and see which you like better.
