Question about casting off

I’m knitting pants and I’m doing a ribbed cuff in k1p1. The pattern says cast off in knit 1, purl 1 pattern. How exactly do I do that. I’m drawing a blank here.

Just like you do the ribbing in the pattern except you’ll be bringing the 1st stitch over the 2nd one like regular cast off…

K1, p1, pass the 1st st over the 2nd one, p1, pass the 1st over the 2nd one, k1, pass the 1st st over the 2nd, etc.

Thanks!

Should that be k1, p1, pass the 1st st over the 2nd one, k1 pass the 1st over…?

Ooops… wrote that after work again… And I thought I looked it over carefully to make sure I had the right sequence.

OK, good. I thought I was doing something wrong.

I just looked at the vidoe on binding off in k1 p1 and it’s pretty confusing. Your way seems much easier. What’s the difference?

The video here? I dunno, haven’t seen it. But I doubt it’s much different than what we posted… k1, p1, pass st over, k1, pass stitch over, p1, pass stitch over… That’s how you BO in ribbing. I sometimes find that after the p stitch, it’s easier to pass the BO stitch over it if I move the yarn in back, but that’s all.
