I’ve been knitting for less than a year and am ready to move on to something bigger than a scarf. I bought Bernart Softee Chunky yarn and need to modify the pattern to fit me. However, what do I do with the swatch? Do I swatch to my size or to the gague on the yarn??? I’ve actually never done a swatch before.
Just swatch for the gauge…about a 4 x 4 square with the recommended needle size on the yarn tag.
I did the shrug as the pattern states, but I believe if you want it bigger, you just keep knitting until the sleeves fit comfortably for you. You won’t have to add any stitiches to the pattern, just knit on.
Hope that helps!
Ok, thanks I will give it a shot!
I’m excited to see your capelet!!! I started one last night for my great niece (6 yr. old) and it’s too cute!
Ooh, I’d like to get in a recommendation for using circulars for this pattern. I used straights and trying to fit all the stitches on (and I’m a size small) was difficult and really hard on my hands and wrists.
