I’m doing a K2P2 ribbing for the edge, and I’m thinking about just doing ribbing all the way to the top. Should I switch to another needle after the first couple of inches of the edge?
Never ribbed a hat to the top.
Any input appreciated!

Well, from the ribbed hat patterns I have seen and in the one I worked on you are not required to change the needle size (just switch from a single circular needle to dpns). However, if in working on your own pattern you want to go down a needle size or two I don’t think it would hurt, as long as you take into account that you have reduced your needle size and therefore also altered your gauge.

The hats I posted were knit in K2P2 rib with the same size needles throughout. Makes a very nice stretchy and comfortable hat.
