Q. about using different yarn than what the pattern calls for

This can be a quick yes or no answer, hopefully. I have some lovely yarn that I want to make a sweater with but the ounces and the grams are double what the pattern calls for, is this okay?

Just as long as I do the guage swatch, then I can use the different weight yarn. Right?

Gauge is really all that matters. And yardage.

As long as you get gauge and you like the fabric, the weight is of no consequence–that just has to do with what the yarn is made from and how tightly it’s spun.
