Q about Double Seed Stitch

[color=blue]I am doing a double seed stitch and the instructions read:

R1 and 2: *k2, p2, rep from * to end
R3 and 4: *p2, k2 rep from * to end
Rep R3-4

Surely it can’t mean to keep going with p2 k2 for the whole project? Don’t you do another k2 p2 row?

I see in the same book the seed stitch says
R1: k1, p1
R2: p2, k2
But says nothing else, nothing about repeats.

Am I missing something?

You would repeat all 4 rows for double seed stitch.

So then it should read

R1 and 2: *k2, p2, rep from * to end
R3 and 4: *p2, k2 rep from * to end
R5 and 6: *k2, p2, rep from * to end
R7 and 8: *p2, k2 rep from * to end

Is that right? You just alternate the rows?

Toby

row 1 k2, p2
row 2 k2, p2

row 3 p2, k2
row 4 p2, k2

This is if the number of stitches is divisible by 4.

It should look like this, facing you:

kkppkkppkkpp
kkppkkppkkpp
ppkkppkkppkk
ppkkppkkppkk

Basically, on rows 1 and 3 you knit the purls and purl the knits, and on rows 2 and 4 you knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you.
