I finally decided what color to dye my bare merino sock yarn…purple; why not. So with 3 cups of water & 1 cup of vinegar I mixed 5 packs of kool-aid (store brand was 11 cents cheaper) and then after soaking the wool in super hot water for 25 min I put it into almost boiling kool-aid/vinegar water and viola! The light spots don’t look that grey in person, just on the camera…not sure why.

i think i’ll be dyeing some purple sock yarn in the near future

You are asking the wrong person!! I just started knitting about 3 months ago and have not used any varigated colorways yet. I don’t know what yarns that are multicolored knit up like. I’m still learning… I can’t wait to see what you find to put this yarn to work. -Ve
