Purls between braids too loose

I have knitted a sweater with several different types of braids. Between each braid there are 2 purl stitches. The first of the 2 stitches is always too loose and the areas between the braids are sparse and too wide. I try to tighten the thread when I knit the purl stitches but it doesn’t seem to help. The sweater is very much too long. Do you have any tips on how to solve this?

There are ways to fix this. Are you knitting in the round or back and forth?
Here are a couple of different methods.

Twisting the stitch by wrapping the yarn clockwise around the needle will work best for knitting back and forth.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?

It’s this, by Aegyo Knit

It’s knittied back and forth, but the sleeves are in the round.

I will check out the videos, thank you so much!

I love all the cable work and stitch patterns!

You mentioned your project ended up too long. Was that in the body?

Apart from leaving off the bottom ribbing, I can’t think of an easy way to shorten it because of the sideways construction.

It’s a lovely design with a lot of work in it.

Yes, the body got too long, but also I did not keep gauge so it’s too wide as well. I’m about to redo it using a different kind of yarn and the technique shown above. Also, I will not use the largest size but the middle one. I think I can make it as short as I like by just adding the number of stiches I prefer, when starting the body from the end of the sleeve.
