Purling and knitting in the same row?

hi,
i’m brand new to knitting, and i seem to be stuck! i am trying to knit this pattern: K5, P2, K3, P2, K5, P2, K3, P2, K6.

at first, i had extra stitches, but then i figured out that i wasn’t moving the yarn to the front of the needle to purl.

however, now i’m getting this:

what are those weird loops, and how do i get rid of them?

thanks so much for helping!

After purling, are you moving the yarn to the back again before knitting?

I had the same problem when I tries a stitch that knits and purls in the same row.

When you move from knit to purl, you need to bring your yarn to the front between your needles. Then when you go back to knit, you need to bring the working yarn back between them.

Does that make sense?

THANK YOU!!! :cheering: :cheering:

after starting over almost ten times, i’ve finally knit the row correctly!!!
