Purl through back loops

I have been knitting for a long time and thought I knew it all, but I am working on an Afghan now that requires me to purl through back loops (decrease). I have been playing with this for five days and cannot figure out how to do the back loops.

HELP!

Welcome to the forum!

If you go to the glossary linked on the tabs above and scroll down to the P’s you can find the videos for both continental or english. Look for P tbl.

I have seen that abbreviation too and didn’t know what it meant. CathyF said it is a decrease? It doesn’t look like one from the video. What kind of stitch does it make???

Purl 2tog tbl is a decrease, that may be what she means.

Many thanks. I typed that question for the wife this morning and took her to lunch. We are back and I went straight to the computer and found this answer. We looked at the film and Cathy started yelling “I knew it! I knew it!” Apparently she had the theory but could not make it work. Two seconds after watching the film she was back on the couch knitting. I think you all made her day.
