Purl Soho Garter Ear Flat Hat Pattern HELP

Quick question. The pattern says that it is garter stitch all the way, however, for the first portion of the pattern (knit in the round), it only talks about ‘knit’ stitch. ie. the first two rows, ‘knit’.

My two trial runs of the pattern (and my small amount of knitting knowledge) knows that this produces stocking stitch when knitted in the round.

Can someone advise me please? Am I going mad?! Thank , keep safe.

You’re right, knit stitch in the round produces stockinette. The first several rows of stockinette give you that little curl which forms the edging of this hat.

Hi, thank you for that.

I did actually spend a lot of time after sending that email, reading ALL the comments! They actually answered all of my questions. Excellent idea to publish them.

I am now 4 rows from finishing my 1st hat (which is always the test project to fully understand the pattern and see where I make any mistakes).

It’s a truly lovely pattern, and very clever!

Thank you for making my lockdown less of a trial, more of a good excuse to knit your hat!
