Hi there, I would like to clarify if “[B]purl into yo[/B]” and “[B]purl yo[/B]” mean the same thing? I am so confused :?? with my current project. Another thing I just found out is that [B]knitting into the back of yo[/B] is not the same as [B]knitting into yo[/B]. Because of this I have made holes in my project. Is this a major error and should I have to start all over again? :gah:
would think that if purl into yarnover and purl yanover were different then on would be purl into BACK of yarnover.
Yes, knit yo and knit yo through back are different. When you twist the yrnover it close it up to some degree.
As far as making holes - that is normally what you make yarnovers for.
I believe [B]purl into yo[/B], and [B]purl yo[/B] are the same thing, expressed differently.
Now I’m not an expert lace knitter but I think “purl into YO” and purl “YO” are different ways of writing the same thing.
As for whether you should start all over again…
Depending on how many YOs you knit that should have been knit tbl,
and how confident you are at dropping a stitch and picking it up again, you can fix them. TECHknitter has a great series on fixing errors in rows below You just need to slip to your mistake, drop the stitch down to the error, pick it up orriented the right way and chain back up (crochet hook helps).
If there are too many mistakes too far down and that’s not an option for you, ask yourself how much its going to bother you to leave it alone. You might want to try knitting a swatch with some YOs knit normally and some through the back and block it and see how different it actually looks blocked. If it looks okay to you, then leave it alone.
I’m knitting a lace shawl and my boyfriend’s dad started calling me Penelope (after Odysseus’ wife in the Odesey who spends all day weaving and then rips out everything she wove that day at night) because I was ripping back every time I made a mistake. Eventually I decided to chill out a bit and only fix the really visible mistakes and let the tiny ones only I will ever notice stay.
Thank you all for the clarification! I believe that the purling instructions both mean the same thing too. 
I made a mistake of knitting into the yo as one would normally would although the instructions said to knit into the back of the yo. But I was under the impression that knitting into the back is the same as your usual knit stitch. I’ve redone it and can see that knitting into the back of the yo causes the hole to close up. Thanks once again!
