I am working on a pattern for a cat and am at the chest section. When I purl back, one needle has an extra row, so when I work the short rows, it looks weird to me. Has anyone been through this before?
I made this kitty years ago and don’t recall problems with the short rows. I’ve thought about making another since I gave the first one away. Is your copy of the pattern from a book? It looks different from the downloaded copy I used. The short rows are worked in pairs so everything should work out. I didn’t use dpn, I worked mine on a long circular using magic loop. Maybe things just seem off using dpn. I can’t say.
I agree with GG. Think of the short rows as pairs so that what happens on one side is twinned with what happens on the other side. The pairs may be offset one row but that won’t be noticeable.
Cute pattern.
Thank you both so much!
Yes, from a book, as I am trying to learn how to follow patterns. ![]()
I asked because there could be differences between a pattern published in a book and the same pattern downloaded online. I’m not saying there are, it’s just a possibility. As I recall this was one of the patterns I used because I was working on following patterns. I’d never done anything like it before.
