Provisional Cast on

Could some one explain provisional cast on. I watched the video, but I am completely lost. My pattern stated to do a provisional cast on using a crochet hook. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You also could a different pco. The easiest is to cast on with some scrap yarn, then knit the first row witht the project yarn.

Thanks! That seemed to have helped me understand. I hate to admit that I gave up and cast on normal. I will have to deal with the line that I will get from the picked up stitches. I was drawing a blank and then got even more confused from watching the video. I really wanted to procede. I think the sweater will still look pretty. I will now know for next time… Thanks for your reply :slight_smile:
