Provisional cast on how to join a band

Hello,
I have been working on the bottom of a cowl of a jumper that requires a provisional cast. I have only a few more rows to knit before joining the lace band I created to form the bottom of the cowl. To finish this,
the pattern says “ With WS facing you BO all the sts using 3 Needle Bind Off.” but I am not too sure how to achieve that. Would you be able to help?
It is the first time I use this method and I am getting worried. Thank you so much for your help and advice!
I am attaching a couple of pictures.

To be sure I understand, you’re joining the last row of the pattern to the beginning of the piece? You’ll remove the provisional cast on, placing the live stitches on a needle then use them and the stitches on your working needle to work the 3 ndl bo. Do you need help with getting the live provisional stitches on a needle and/or doing the 3 ndl bo? We can help you find videos. The needle you use for holding the provisional stitches can be anything that works. I like using a dpn but whatever is handy that works is fine. The needle size isn’t important unless it’s too large and will stretch your stitches. Smaller is fine. I find having the held stitches on a smaller needle can make the bind off a little easier.

There’s a bit of grumbling on Ravelry about the join of the lace portion. Some knitters have used grafting which might be worth a try if you don’t like the 3NBO.

Here’s a video for 3 needle bind off in rib:

Thank you for your comments, I will have a look at the videos and try to find the best option.
I have used a cable for the provisional cast on so I can join the needles at the end of it. You are right, I will be joining the last row with the first row of the piece.

Hello everybody,

Good news, I have joined the lace with the 3 needles bind off, pick up stitches and work through my row of decreases.

The pattern now calls for short rows and it will be the first time I do this. It is exciting however I want to make sure I understand correctly.

Thank you so very much for any help and advice you can give me on this.

This is the instructions on my pattern:

On the rs of my work (working in a circle), my pattern says to knit 63 stitches from the beginning of the row and to wrap and turn at the end of it.

Then I have to purl the 63 stitches and wrap and turn again. If I understand correctly it means the wrap and turn on the ws of my work will be on the last stitch of the « long row ».

Is this correct ?

Thank you for your help and this amazing forum! You have helped me so much since I started knitting! I could not have done all these amazing projects without your help.

Oh good, this is good progress.
Just to be sure, you’ll k63 from the BOR marker, w&t then purl back to the BOR marker and keep purling past the BOR marker for another 63sts, w&t.
On row 3, k to 4sts before the wrapped stitch and then w&t. Then there will probably be another purl row back to the BOR marker and past it to 4sts short of the last wrapped stitch on the purl side.

Hello,
I am now at the 3 needle bind off on the WS of the lace.
The way the lace is presented on the jumper is the points face up and the curves down.
If I bind off from here, my string will be at the bottom of the lace when I finish binding off however, the pattern asks me to carry on knitting from the top of the lace to the neckline. Would I have to cut my yarn or is there another option?
Thank you for your help!

It looks as though you will have to either bind off and cut the yarn or bind off leaving the yarn attached and add a new strand at the top to work the upper part of the pattern. The strand still attached at the lower end (left over from the 3-NBO) could then be used to knit the lower portion of the sweater. This depends on the directions for the lower portion of course and where those directions start.
