Project from the Orchestra Pit

I accompany for musicals, and always need a project to do during breaks in the music, while they rehearse dialogue or whatever. This is the blanket I made during “The Wiz”. It has to be simple enough that I can work a few minutes and put it down then pick it up again and not make a mistake.

Hey, that’s cool! I like it a lot. It’s the kind of thing you can look at and immediately be inspired to make your own, mind spinning with colors/stripe sequences, etc. How big is it?

That is so gorgeous! :inlove:

Simple? Looks durn complicated to me! LOL It turned out beautifully!

Gorgeous!! :inlove:

Beautiful! Did you use the pinwheel baby blanket pattern? I’ve been wanting to make that, but have no babies to knit for at the moment.

Ditto what she said!

That’s great! How big is it? It’s hard to tell from the picture.

That is beautiful! I love the pattern!

:inlove:

:inlove: WOW! :inlove:

That’s beautiful! You did a great job!

Beautiful!!! :inlove: :inlove:

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who does that! LOL I’m in our orchestra at church and we do 2 big productions each year…I take my knitting for rehearsal especially when the drama and choir get involved…working on a sock right now and soon a purse…like you said easy to do and not mess up. Tues night I’ll be knitting away in the orchestra pit!

Oh, that’s lovely! Beautiful colors!

THanks for the compliments. It is the pinwheel baby blanket pattern. All the yarn is plain old acrylic, so the baby’s mommy can wash it with confidence. I had all the yarn around the house, didn’t buy any new. It was my first DPN project, starting in the center with just 11 stitches cast on. I keep a supply of hand-knit baby items around, then give them as gifts when friends have babies. They feel like I made it just special for them. :XX:

That is so unusual! Looks AWFULLY complicated to me too, but then again, you play music!

Excellent Job :cheering: :cheering:

I’m a knitting musician too. I knit during the sermon every Sunday when I’m not sitting on the organ bench.

Oh, dear! I’ve “corrupted” someone else in our orchestra! Wed night this lady brought her sweater to show me where she had been knitting and was going to bring it to our next rehearsal next week! LOL

The Blanket is about 36" in diameter. The pattern says make it your desired size. I “desired” to use up all of the purple yarn, so that’s why it was 36" when finished. I need to test it on a real baby to see if it is useable. I’m thinking you might spread it out and lay a baby on it, like on the living room floor or something.
