Problems with k2tig and yfwd pattern

Hi all, I’m new to the forum and need a bit of help, I’m knittinga blanket for my dog and the pattern is basically yfwd and k2tog and p. Everytime I do the k2tog and yfwd, my pattern is developing wonky, any ideas, I’ve attached a pic, so you can see what I mean, thanks in advance

Maybe it’s the yfwd or yarn over? Remember that a yarn over doesn’t use up a stitch. Simply bring the yarn to the front between the needles and then over the right needle to the back.

Hi salmonmac!!

This pattern calls for something called “double knitting 8 ply acrylic yarn”. What is that in US terms according to weight and what yarns would be a good US equivalent??

And what US size is 4mm needles??

Eight ply is DK (double knitting) so any DK should work. Something machine washable. It’s really a lovely, light weight blanket.

There’s a large choice at online stores and local yarn shops. I have used Rowan Softyak DK and Berroco Comfort DK and like them both.

Thanks for your help!! So, “dk” means Icon #3 for the weight??? And I like the looks of this blanket but I’m not sure how well it would work as a baby blanket. All those little holes for tiny fingers/toes to catch on. What do u think??

Yes, DK is #3.

So many baby blankets have lace or open work. I’ve never heard a complaint or had a child catch fingers or toes in one but if you’re worried, this isn’t the blanket to make.
