Problems with a sweater

So, I got http://www.knitpicks.com/kits/Design_Your_First_Sweater_Kit_Green_White__D40107.html this sweater kit to knit for my son for Christmas.

I have FROGGED it twice down to the armpits.

Twice.

Here is why.

I have the correct number of stitches on the needles, but it says to "repeat last 2 rounds 14 times. But doing that doesn’t get me to 144 stitches.

I am at a loss as to what to do.

Help me please!!!

Are you doing a decrease on both sides of the marker? That decreases 8 sts each dec round times 14 repeat you’ll lose 112 stitches. 256 minus 112 equals 144.

I was only decreasing 4 times each round…

Hey, we all read patterns wrong, or get focused on one section of it and don’t really pay attention to another part. Even after knitting for years and years and years…
