I am teaching myself to knit. I purchases the “I taught myself knitting” pack from Wal-Mart. I am making a woman’s casual pullover. I am using straight needles. And I believe I am working in pieces. I have been working the back and it says “leave rem 42 sts on st holder”. It then says “Front” and gives instructions on how to start the front. My question is do I need to start with a new ball of yarn or can I cut my yarn a certain length to begin my “front” or am I supposed to leave my stitch holder there and continue using my yarn and start the “Front” from where I am? Please help. I know nobody that knits. I live Central Time Zone. Phone number is 907-687-7373. My name is Melissa.
Hi and welcome to Knitting Help!
Welcome to knitting, too.
You can cut the yarn from the back section leaving about a 6 inch tail. That’s more than likely what the pattern wants. If necessary you can always attach another strand of yarn to the back. You might read ahead in the pattern and see what happens to the 42sts on the holder.
I think it would be a good idea to remove your phone number from you post. You never know about spambots cruising the the Internet.
