Problems decreasing a stitch on rib

i’m having problems decreasing a stitch on rib without destroying the rib.
the pattern says:
Row 1: Purl 1st st, * K2, P2 * repeat until last st., P
last st.
Row 2: Slip 1st st with yarn in front, * K2, P2 *
repeat until last st, P last st.
Repeat Rows 1 & 2 three more times (total ribbing
– 8 Rows)
Row 9: Change to larger needles. K this row. Size S –
Reduce 1 st – 133 sts on needle

it doesn’t says the decrease st.

Just decrease somewhere toward the middle of the row. Since this is a knit row, you don’t have to worry about maintaining the rib pattern. The next row is all purl and then you start the lace pattern.

Are you making the small size? That seems to be the only one affected by the decrease. If you are then I would just k2tog because this is a knit row. It won’t affect the ribbing.

ETA: Ha! I was looking at the pattern to be sure I was answering correctly and your reply hadn’t been posted so we said the same thing. Funny!

We are just knitting on the same wavelength, Jan!
