Pretty Baby - help with row 8

Hi there,
I’m trying to knit my first baby sweather, and I’ve come to Row 8 and need clarification on it…

The pattern reads like this …Row 8: k1, p1, k2, (yo, k2tog) to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.

My question is, do I do the whole row until I get to the last 3 sts, OR, do I do just the part in parenthesis (yo, k2tog) to the last 3 sts?

Just the part in parentheses. You did similar on these rows

Row 3: (k1, p1) to last 3sts, k1, yo, k2tog. (button hole row)

Row 4: (k1, p1) to last st, k1.

I’d say just the part in parentheses. The beginning and ending sts look to be for the front band.
