Prairie Fire Sweater Lace

I am starting the Tin Can Knits Prairie Fire Sweater which features a lace panel on the front and bottom back of the sweater. I am making the 13th size (ML) and am already on the second row of chart A. My question is: how can I use stitch markers to help me keep track of my chart work? I have already established the “center” stitch of the first row of 5 stitches as my initial “landmark” but am concerned that I will miscount on subsequent lace rows.

Here are the instructions:
To shape the yoke, you increase at 4 raglan increase
points. The lace panel begins at centre front, and
will continue to increase in width (the lace replacing
the stockinette stitch) to the hem. The 􀏐irst stitch of
the round is the stitch at centre back.
Set up round: knit 12 (13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 19, 19,
21, 22, 23, 23, 23, 25, 27, 30, 36) sts (right half of
back), PM, knit 10 (10, 14, 12, 14, 14, 14, 14, 18, 16,
16, 16, 16, 18, 16, 18, 20, 22) sts (right sleeve), PM,
knit 9 (10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16, 16, 18, 19, 20, 20, 20,
22, 24, 27, 33) sts (right side of front), work row 1 of
chart A over next 5 sts, knit 9 (10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,
16, 16, 18, 19, 20, 20, 20, 22, 24, 27, 33) sts (left side
of front), PM, knit 10 (10, 14, 12, 14, 14, 14, 14, 18, 16,
16, 16, 16, 18, 16, 18, 20, 22) sts (left sleeve), PM, knit
to end (left half of back).
Knit 1 round.
There is a marker at BOR, and 4 raglan markers
between back, sleeves, and front, and the location of
the lace chart has been established at centre front.
From this point forward the lace chart at centre front
continues to expand and replace the stockinette
stitch either side (refer to chart notes for further
details). To shape the yoke, you will increase at the
raglan increase points every other round.

Ooh, pretty.

I would put a removable marker each side of the lace panel, so 5 stitches apart to begin, then at the end of the round I’d move the marker one stitch over (into the stockinette) each side, so 7 sts are marked and I would be ready for my next round. Repeat, at end of round move markers 1 st each side to widen in readiness for the next round.
Watch out for round 19 which needs 2 additional stitches each side instead of 1. I learned that from this super helpful ravelry member

The photos from this member are really helpful, from a small v of chart done to more and more. You can see the width of the v shaped lace panel has removable markers each side, easy to move each round, and non-removable markers at intervals across the lace nicely marking out the repeats of the motif.
Super helpful pics.

Creations, you are a life saver! Thank you for directing me to this maker - I was poking around these projects on Ravelry, but because there are soooo many, I gave up trying to find help. Did you have a sort option that enabled you to locate this one?

You’re welcome.
I probably looked at about 5 or 6 out of the very many. I scanned for those with the highest number of photos as, in my logic, they are more likely to have photos of work in progress rather than just front and back of a finished piece. Sometimes the multiple photos turn out to be cats in baths… but that’s how I choose what to look at.

I think ravelry has a like button for helpful projects but I forgot to look for it or click it.

Enjoy your project, I’m looking forward to your progress pics!
