Poncho and cables

Hey everyone. I’ve been knitting for several months now (I learned from this site, actually, or I wouldn’t know how to knit at all) and I’ve yet to post any of my projects. Why? Fear, plain and simple. See, I’m fairly new to knitting, and it’s a bit intimidating to be watching all the beautiful socks and fancy sweaters that you all knit. Until now, I have been afraid to post my own projects, because I know they pale in comparison.

But I’ve decided to be brave and basically just get over it. So here, I’m posting some of my recent projects. :smiley: This is a big moment for me! lol

This was a free poncho pattern from Lion Brand, made with Trellis yarn in Stained glass. It makes me feel really glamorous, and it’s so fun to wear on a rainy, dreary day like today.

[COLOR=#552867]This next one was actually my first knitting project ever, and I love it. It’s an Irish Hiking Scarf, Limelight from Caron Simply Soft Brites. [/COLOR]

This is the project I’m working on right now. It’s a free pattern on Lionbrand’s website, the Cable Comfort Throw. I’ve only got two of the five panels so far. Instead of using their Wool-ease Thick ‘n’ Quick, I am using double strands of their regular worsted weight Wool Ease, in Fisherman.

No need to be gentle, we’ll be throwing LOTS of praise at you!! Good for you for hiking the courage up to show your work - I remember my trepidation too.

Everything is simply gorgeous. The poncho pattern, what is it called? I have a big stash left of ribbon yarn from a shell I made and wanted a shawl or something to go over it to cover my arms and this looks like just the ticket.

The Poncho pattern is from Lionbrand, called Trellis Poncho and it’s super easy and quick, using Size 15 needles. :slight_smile:

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I wanted my first project to be something that I would really want to wear, and when I read (and saw, from the video) that cables were pretty easy, I decided to give it a try. I definitely got a lot of practice in with that first project, and now I feel like a pro at it!

This was far less painful than I had imagined - I’ll definitely be posting pictures of my projects in the future! :smiley:
