Has anybody tried this yarn? It’s something like 95% wool and 5% silk. About 100 yards for six bucks. Supposed to be like Noro type colorways and there’s about ten colorways so far. I’m really interested, wish I could get my hands on it just to squeeze and fondle it :teehee:
I have some. I haven’t knit with it yet, though. When I first felt it, I was a bit disappointed. However, when I felt it in comparison to the Noro Silk Garden, it was comparable. It’s got beautiful colors, though. Every once in a while I pick it up and feel it, and I realize that it feels like wool. Not all wool is super soft.
When you do knit something with it, will you tell us what you think? I’m asking only because I read on someone’s blog that it tears/pulls apart very easily. However this blogger did go on to say that the same thing has happened with kureyon. Now I’m making a couple of things with the kureyon and I haven’t found that to be the case at all. So, just wondering!
I will absolutely post on how it is. Some yarns do break more easily than others, but in my experience, you really have to tug on them.
i’ve knit with the olive green colorway

i found it much softer feeling compared to noro kureyon. it isn’t a plied yarn, so in that sense, it could break easier. i did have it break while i was knitting. i thought i had made an accidental YO, and ripped back like 40 rows to discover it had broke. good thing it was destined to be felted
also, the colors are more harmonious as opposed to rainbowish like most kureyon colorways HTH
it’s a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit more susceptible to breakage than Kureyon is.
it also stripes itself a little more abruptly than Kureyon and Silk Garden. I was expecting a bit more blended color change.

I used 2 colorways in that scarf. the join is where the marker is.
but all in all it’s fine. I
the $6 per skein.
A friend of mine did a whole sweater in this stuff and raved about it the whole way through. She has also done one in the similar Noro, and for the price liked it much better.
I will have to add this to my list of wants for my stash…:teehee:
where can i find this? it looks pretty fabulous!
I got mine from my LYS (Purlescence Yarns). I see that WEBS has it.
