Pls look at this pattern for a new knitter!

I am a fairly new knitter and started a new project…a cable knit scarf…

Halfway through the pattern, my scarf began to roll up on me, although the pattern included a border on all 4 sides…3 knit on each side of each row and 4 rows of knit on the bottom and top.

I pulled it out because the curling was sooo bad… where did i go wrong…

i am using Pattons classic wool wt. 4 and used size US0 needles…

the produce sort of had an hour glass look as well which tells me the tension was tight…probably due to the cable…

could someone take a look at this pattern and tell me what i did wrong…

i am sooo dissapointed…

thanks so much

here is the pattern

Cast on 22 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Rows 1 and 3 (RS) K3, p5, k6, p5, k3.
Row 2 and all WS rows K8, p6, k8.
Row 5 K3, p5, slip next 3 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k3, k3 from cable needle, p5, k3.
Row 7 Rep row 1
Row 8 Rep row 2.
Rep Rows 1- 8 until scarf measures 41” [104 cm] from beginning, end with a Row 8. Knit 4 rows. Bind off. Weave in ends.

oops needles are size US 9

Try going up a needle size and see if that helps. Four rows of garter on the ends, and 4 sts on the sides might not be quite enough to keep it from curling. Try again and if it still does it, see if blocking will help, you can block before you’re done and it’s a good way to see what happens when you do.
