Im new to the forum my name is disha
I wanted to knit this cardigan and got conused is there a mistake in the pattern or im not understand right
If anyone can help me i would really appreciate it
What i wanted to understand is
Back cast on 103 sts
When shaping the armhole it says work 12 rows dec 1 st at each end of every row
It says 79 sts when im counting im getting more sts
I have also attaches the pattern pls help
Yes, that is the right amount of sts. If u start with 103 and decrease 2 sts every row for 12 rows, that would be 24 sts. 103-24 equals 79.

Thank u so much for helping
So i have to dec 2 sts one at the beg and 1 at the end is that right
Yes. 1 at the beginning and 1 at the end of every row until u get to 73 sts. I wish they would word their directions to make them easier to understand!! But that’s what we’re here for!!

Does it mean right side row last stich i have to dec 1
And even in armhole edge
And i dint understand the sleeves
I dint understand the part where it says work 53 rows inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every following 6th row there will b 5 rows straight between each inc row
pls explain me this part
And in the next part there is a mistake
Wirk 64 rows more inc 1 st at each end of 8th and every foll 8th row there will b 7 rows straight between each inc row
How to do it
Continuing the discussion from Pls help:
So, for the sleeves you would do 4 rows in stocking stitch and increase in the 5th row. Then do 5 rows stocking stitch and increase on the 6th row - do this 8 times and you will have knitted 53 rows and increased to 63 stitches and should measure about 11.5 inches. Then do 7 rows in stocking stitch and increase on the 8th row, do this 8 times and you will now have 79 stitches and will have worked 64 rows. I hope this helps.
“I dint understand to front shape i have to dec 1 st at end of front edge

Yes, dec 1 stitch at the front edge. For the left front of the cardigan (left front as you would wear the sweater), that’s the end of the right side row.
Work even, no decreases yet at the armhole edge.
If i have understood this right
Cast on 45 sts work 23 rows inc 1 st at 5th and every follo 6 row there will b 5 rows st between each inc row
1row knit
2row purl
3row knit
4row P
5th row inc 1 st
Than 5 rows stockinet st
6th row k inc 1
Again 5 row stockinet st
7 th row knit
8th row p
9 row k
10 row p
11 row k inc 1
And soo on is this right
I worked on the paper with second part on part sleeves where is says 64 rows more i inc st st i each end on 8th and everyfollo 8th row there will b 7 row st st
I did that im getting 71 sts with 64 rows with 8 repeats
Where as pattern says 79 sts
What should i do am i wrong or pattern has a mistake
I changed the row numbers to reflect the 5 stockinette rows. I would also add the changes below in bold:
1row knit
2row purl
3row knit
4row P
5th row inc 1 st
Than 5 rows stockinet st
11th row k inc 1
Again 5 row stockinet st
17 th row knit inc 1
5 rows stockinette
23rd row knit inc 1
If you’re making the 2nd size, then continue in this manner until row 53.
OK, for the second part of the sleeve increases and the second size, you’re increasing from 63sts to 79sts. That’s 16sts increased or 8 increase rows. If you increase every 8 rows times 8 increase rows that’s 64 rows.
Increase on rows 8,16,24,32,40,48,56 and 64.
I did the way u said still im getting 71 sts and 64 rows im not getting 79 sts
I.should be getting 79 sts
Are you figuring 2sts per increase row, one stitch at each end of the row?
U mean to say there will b 2 stitches increase
In end of the row
1 to 7 rows stockinet st
8th row 1 inc st
Again 9 to 15 row stockinet st
Row 16 inc 1 st
I go no till 8 repeats i get 71 sts
Is there 2 stitch inc in 8 row at the beg n end
What am i missing here
It’s increase one stitch at each end. That means an inc at the beginning of the row and one at the end of the row.
Got it thank u for having patience with me
Thanks a million this is really a wonderful group
