Hi,
I’m making a beach cover up for my 6 months old granddaughter.
I had to subsitute yarn and the owner of the LYS told me to either go UP a size or DOWN a size and I forget!!! which it was:
Here goes:
Yarn was suppose to be bulky weight,
Yarn is now worsted weight:
I want to make the 9-12 month size for her, so do I cast on for the 6-9 month size or the 18-24 month size. I know that with either size I will have to shorten or lengthen the arms, etc. And I know I will be using size 7 needles that the substitute yarn calls for.
You coulda figured it out… When you use small needles and thin yarn, you have to have more sts to get 10". Large needles and thick yarn take less stitches for 10". So you use a pattern size that takes more stitches.
