Please help

I am a beginner and trying to knit a hat for the first time.
One of the lines of instructions is confusing me so much I cannot wrap my head around it.

(WS) K1. P1. *kfpb. (k1. p1) 6 times. rep from * 3 times more. 58 sts

So I know that it reads wrong side, knit one, pearl one, knit front to back.
I don’t know what the brackets imply.
Am I to kfpb once, then do the set of two stitches (k1p1) 6 times, so 12 stiches? Then repeat the kfpb once followed by the 6 k1p1?
Or is it (kfpb, k1p1) 6 times, so kfpb, k1, p1, kfpb, k1, p1, kfpb, k1, p1, etc

Thanks for any help! It is one of the early steps so it would be wonderful to move on without messing up.

Welcome to the forum!
“Am I to kfpb once, then do the set of two stitches (k1p1) 6 times, so 12 stiches? Then repeat the kfpb once followed by the 6 k1p1?” That’s the way to do it. The number after the parentheses applies to the stitches inside the parens only.
