Please help with decreasing and keeping continuity

I am knititng a baby sweater from a Bernat Baby Cakes pattern. I have knit most of the sweater but when I try to do the hood with all the pattern, once I start decreasing, I am totally losing the pattern I know that I am doing something wrong here but can’t seem to make it work. The pattern is “Snow Princess Jacket” and made with 4mm needles and Baby Coordinates yarn. The sweater pieces had lots of pattern but I didn’t get stuck until the decreasing on the hood. The pattern starts with casting on 101 stitches and doing two rows st.st. After that it is to proceed in the border pattern dec 1 st each end of the needle 3rd and alternate row. A couple of rows would be 3rd row:K1 *K1.yfwd. sl1.K1 psso. K3. K2tog. yfwd. K2 and repeat to end **All alternate rows are purl and so row 5 would go: K1. *(yfwd.Sl1.K1.psso) twice. K1. (k2tog yfwd)twice. K1 and repeat to end of row. Not sur if this is clear enough but thanks!

To dec on these 2 rows, leave off the first yfwd (yo) and the last one before the end. If you have to dec on more rows after R 5, then just do decs at both ends of the row - skp at the beg and k2tog at the end…

Just wanted to say thanks for the help and I will give it a try
