I consider myself pretty good at following directions for knitting patterns, but I am stumped at Row 54 of this pattern. This lacy heart pattern can be found in “Our Best Knit Baby Afghans,” picture is on the front cover. Line 54 reads, “WYB slip 3 sts as if to purl, WYF slip same 3 sts back onto left needle, WYB knit same 3 sts,…” I can’t figure out, after doing the WYB…, How I can WYF put the same 3 sts onto left needle, then WYB knit same 3 sts. ??? Can someone help me?? The blanket has been coming out so nice and now I am stumped.
Please Help! Precious in Pink, Brooke Shellflower Row 54
Essentially what you are doing is wrapping these 3sts.
WYB slip 3 sts to the right needle as if to purl, then move the yarn to the front slip same 3 sts back onto left needle and bring the yarn across the front of the sts and toward the back between the needles and knit the next three sts same 3sts.
I think the thing to do is to follow the steps one by one and you’ll see that it works.
WYB slip 3 sts as if to purl, WYF slip same 3 sts back onto left needle, WYB knit same 3 sts,…
Yeap, these stitches are wrapped. You move your yarn to the back, then slip 3 stitches to the right needle as if you’re purling them. Then you move your yarn to the front, and slip the same 3 stitches back to the left needle. Then move your yarn to the back again, and knit those 2 stitches.
It tends to sound a lot more complicated than it really is, but once you see what it’s doing, you’ll easily figure it out.
