Please help me understand these directions :)

TLDR: Not sure how to increase the sleeve width given these directions.

So, I’ve purchased a pattern from an Etsy seller, and I have gone back to the seller to ask my question,(several times) but still don’t understand the answer.

I have completed a cable front and back (see photos below) with a 12 row pattern repeat.
As per the pattern, the front and back have the cable pattern in the middle and the rev st-st on either side of the cable pattern. Also, there are no increases in the front panel as you increase in the final row of ribbing at the bottom, before starting the cable pattern.

I am now working on the sleeves for the pullover, have gotten to row 12, I currently have 75 stitches. Below are the next directions that I’m having difficulty with:

“Keeping continuity of the cable panel, and inc as set cont to 75 stitches, working inc stitches in cable panel as given for Front. Cont in cable panel and inc as set to 93 stitches, working inc sts in rev st-st.”

As the front and back panel have the rev st-st for 10 stiches on either side of the cable panel, I’m thinking that is what is meant by these direction, however, it doesn’t look like it in the photo.

The sleeve pattern does mimic the front pattern with the exception of the first and last stitches in each row.
Issue: Not sure how the pattern is having me increase to 93 stitches from 75 stitches.

Sample of Front pattern: (95 stitches) Meaning I would be using third number in [brackets] to get the correct size.
1st Row: P1 [4:7:10:12], slp1, K4, s1p, p2, C5B, p4, T5R, p4, K4 ,P4, T3B, k1, T3F, p4, k4, p4, T5L,p4,C5F, p2, s1p, k4, s1p, P1 [4:7:10:12].

Sleeve pattern does have increases… but if I’m to use the front pattern, I’m not sure when or where to increase.

Sleeve pattern: increase looks like this
3rd Row: Increase in 1st st, K1, p1, k2, MB, k2, p3, T3B, p1, T3F, p3, C4B, p3, T3R, p1, k1, p1, T3L, p3, C4F, p3, T3B, p1, T3F, p3, k2, p2, inc in next st, p1 [1:0:0:0:] k0 [0:1:1:1:1]

How would you proceed?

Thanks in advance,
Diana

Hello
Thanks for pics it really helps.
Your knitting looks gorgeous.

It looks like you already have all the different cable patterns on the sleeve and enough stitches to continue this pattern in the main body of the sleeve.
The increased stitches will be at the beginning and end of the row and worked in reverse stockinette. This makes the pattern easier to follow than if you needed to incorporate the stitches into a cable.

The increase is in the first stitch at the beginning of the row and again one stitch in from the end of the row.

The pattern says to “work inc sts I to rev st-st”.
You can use a kfb (knit into the front and back of one stitch) increase in the first stitch and second to last stitch.

It may help to place markers on your needle either side of the 75 sts as this would indicate where to begin and end the 75 stitch cables pattern and either side will be rev stockinette.

I hope this helps.

Thank-you for your clarification of this issue. I appreciate it!
