Im knitting cardigan for myself from knit 1 summer spring 2008 the eco natural knits one i wantes to know is there any errata in the pattern
My query is the stitch says
L1 lift 1
Lift and place horizontal strand between last st made and the next st on to the RH needle
Now i dont remember when the magzine existed tht time did i check the errata or no but i have written with a pen which says
Lift and place horizontal strand between last st made and next st onto LH needle ,knit the strand to inc one st
Which is the right one out if this 2
And i wanted to know can i click the pic and post a pattern im a bit confused about how the pattern goes and the stitches too
This inc is done this way, with the lifted stitch on the RH needle:
L1 lift 1
Lift and place horizontal strand between last st made and the next st on to the RH needle It may be worked like this increase.
We run into copyright problems on posted patterns. A link to the pattern is fine or posting some of the confusing directions will work.
Thank u so much for answering
My pattern says
Inc row
K to 1 st bfr next marker
L1 k1 sl marker k1 L1 rep frm 3 times more and tha next row is p
Rep last 2 rows 22 times more
I wanted to know here there will be 8 inc and than the next row will be p
Soo rep 22 times more means 44 rows where 22 rows would be inc and 22 p rows
176 sts will be increased and i casted on 76 so equals to 252 sts
Is that right ?
Or 22 times rep means 11 rows of inc and 11 rows of p
Than another one is button hole row inc the work to the last marker sl marker work across next 4 sts bind off next 4 sts work to the end work the next row as established , casting on 4 sts over bound off sts
Cont to work inc row and next row twice more 284 sts in total
Im getting 287 sts 3sts more
Where did i make a mistake
OK, you want to do 22 inc rows. That’ll give you 176sts increased. So 22 increase rows and 22 purl rows.
You’re right that the buttonhole bind off and then cast on in the next row shouldn’t give you any change in stitch number. Try to see if maybe you bound off too few sts here or there or maybe cast on an extra stitch in a few places. How many buttonholes are you making?
Im making only 1 buttonhole and i wanted to know is there a video
On how to cast on and bind of sts for buttonhole
Previous video which u shared realy helped me thank u
Thanks for solving my query
“… inc the work to the last marker sl marker work across next 4 sts bind off next 4 sts work to the end work the next row as established , casting on 4 sts over bound off sts…”
There are a couple of ways to do this. According to the instructions, after the marker work 4sts, then work 2 more sts and lift the second st on the righthand needle over the first st and off the needle. Repeat that until you’ve lifted over 4sts total. That’s the bind off of 4sts. On the next row, you can use a knit or a cable cast on to add the 4sts.
Don’t use the first method on the video but use either of the other two. You can do this in the middle of the work by taking the needle with the working yarn into your left hand, casting on and then taking the needle back to the right hand and continueing.
Here’s one other method for making a neater buttonole. It’s not the directions given in your pattern but it is a prettier buttonhole.
