Please help if you can

I’m having issues figuring out how to work step 2 and step 3 of the highlighted section of the bind off for the Rosalie’s School Scarf pattern by Nancy Fry. It doesn’t make sense to me. Can someone please explain it to me if they can?

Welcome to KH!

The first part is fairly straightforward, the slip, k2tog, psso but just in case you’d like to see it:

For Step 2 I tried slipping one stitch knitwise to the right needle (it’ll be the first stitch on the right needle),
then pass the 3rd stitch from the tip of the right needle over the 2nd stitch and the slip stitch.
To make Step 3 easier, pass the slipped stitch and the last knitted stitch from the right to the left needle, then lift the original slip stitch over the last knitted stitch (this stitch has the yarn strand coming off it). Now slip that stitch back to the right needle and turn.

I’ll have to try some of the pattern to see if this works as expected to give you peaks in the correct place along the bind off. If you try it, check to see that the start of the peak is in the correct place as indicated in the directions.
