Hi everyone,
I’m an intermediate knitter and trying to knit this stuffed animal for the first time ever. I AM SO CONFUSED.
I can’t seem to figure out how I cast on with 20sts and end up with 30sts after row one?!
I just learnt the KTBL…from what I observed it does not increase stitches? Unless I’m missing something PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I really want to make this however the stitch number seems to increase every row and I don’t understand how if I just follow the instructions.
Thank you!
Welcome to KH. You’re right, ktbl is not an increase. Does the pattern explain what ktbl means in this context? What pattern is this, pattern name and designer? If we can see it or even a photo if it’s a paid pattern it would be easier to figure out what might be wrong.
Thank you for your reply!
Here is the context! It pops up quite a bit. I can’t seem to find out how the sts are meant to multiply.
It’s a pattern from a magazine I recently picked up. The instructions refers to ktbl as “knit through back loop” as you would expect!
Perhaps it’s a mistake? Just wanted to make aure I wasn’t missing something!
Welcome to KH!
What is the name of pattern and the magazine it appeared in? Is there a month or issue number?
Have you checked online for errata?
Seems as if those should be kfb, rather than ktbl…

I was thinking the same but my ability to get the numbers right is horrible so didn’t say it. I think it’s a error of terms used.
