Please Help! Can't figure out this pattern

I’m attempting my first top-down cardigan and having a problem with understanding something I need to do. The set-up row (WS): P1, PM, P12, PM, P38, PM,P12, PM, P1. But then, the next row(RS) and the increase row (RS) confuse me. They both have directions to …K1, M1L; *[K to 1 st before marker, M1R, K1, SM, K1, M1L]; repeat from * twice (that’s three times on the increase row). My problem is with the part where it says K to 1 st before marker–after I’ve done that the first time, I don’t have markers in that section, if I did the set up row correctly. :eyes: Please help!

you knit one, m1L; knit 11 (to one stitch before the next marker; then m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L
repeating from the * you knit 36 to reach one before the next marker…m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L

and repeat again, this time knitting 10 to reach 1 before the next marker…

You put the markers on the needle, not the sts, that way they’ll travel up the knitting with you.

Thanks for your help…sorry i was being so dense but I was trying to make it more complicated than it is…for some reason, i expected a marker at the end of the bracket instead of just doing what pattern instructed…whew! thanks again.

Thanks Sue…trying to make more complicated that required…probably shouldn’t try to start project while looking at CSI.
