Hello. Im new here. Im a self taught knitter. Ive been knitting for near 20+ years and i am just having so much trouble with this pattern. Im trying to get things done for a charity so im running out of time, no pressure lol.
Heres the pattern:
CO 8
Row1 [k1,p1]x4 (8sts WS)
Row2 [p1,inc2]x4 (16sts RS)
Row3 [k1,p1]x8 (16sts)
So, row1 i k1,p1 for 4 rows? Then row2 makes no sense because it says "x4(16 sts) the math doesn’t add up. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?
I need someone to explain it to me, apparently lol!! Thanks for your time!
K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1(8)
P1 inc2, P1 inc2,P1,inc2,P1 inc2 (16)
See below link:
K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1,K1P1(16)
Increase occurs after each P1
Hope this helps.
My confusion is that if I inc2 after every purl, that gives me 12 then 16 then 20 then 24…if i do it at the x4 like it’s saying,
The 4 times means you repeat what is between the “[” and “]” for times as follows: K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1 (8 sts)
Row 2: P1, then make three stitch from the next stitch, and repeat that pattern 4 times so you finish with 16 stitches.
The pattern should give you instructions on how to do the double increase.
THANK YOU!!! That makes SO MUCH more sense now!! Lol!! Have mercy. I was always under the impression “x” was that many rows to repeat for. I appreciate all the help!! Thank you!
Thank you @Tbdavis1023 for the video link of how to do the double increase. I think I cross posted with you (I started before your post was visible but completed after you post was posted.)
@Chrissy110 glad to help. And welcome to the forum.
