If I want to make a change in the pattern length of a keyhole scarf, is there a way to know where to put the slot, so that the ends are approx. the same length?

You could use a measuring tape and wrap it around your neck. Adjust the start of the tape to the length you’d like. The other end of the tape gives you an idea of the total length. Then see where you would like the slit for the keyhole to fall and use those measurements…
