This seems like it should be obvious, but I’m having trouble finding the answer! When the pattern says PM… what exactly do I mark? I know there’s a difference between mark stitch and place marker (the pattern says place marker to mark right side) - what’s the best way of doing this?

I usually tie a piece of yarn on the right side of my work.Thats so you know the difference between the right and wrong side of your work 
make sure it’s a contrasting yarn.

Usually, though, if a pattern says to place marker, they want you to place a stitch marker on the needle. You can use a stitch marker ring on the needle between the stitches, or just tie a loop of yarn on the needle. Then, when you get to the marker, you just slip it from one needle to the other.
