I have a pattern that has me place a marker after the 19th stitch, then knit some more.
On the next row, it says “knit 20 stitches, increase 1, slip marker”.
Does that mean that I take the marker off the needle after the 19th stitch, hold on to it and then replace it after the increase (which is actually now after the 21st stitch)?
Otherwise, if I knit 20 without removing the marker, it gets knitted into the project and I can’t “slip” it after the increase, as instructed.
Use a marker that goes around the needle, not on the stitch. Knit 20, inc, mover the marker from the left to the right needle, knit the rest of the row.
But her marker is not after the 20th stitch, it’s after the 19th. So after knitting 20 and then increasing, the marker should already be on the right needle, between the 2nd and 3rd stitches from the RN tip.
I think there’s a typo or you have missed something: e.g. if you had previously k 19 then increased, the marker would be in the right place to do what is specified. Or they have the count wrong, or have missed an instruction, or whatever… what is the pattern, can we have a link or what’s it for? A mitten?
Sorry Carol! I do so many mittens etc. that I forget there are people around who occasionally have the need to increase while knitting flat! Are you sweet now?
