My sister wants a pair of socks, and she ideally wants the yarn to be pink with metallic flecks throughout. I’ve been searching on google and all my normal yarn places, but I haven’t found anything that fits. It’s okay if the yarn is variegated, just as long as the dominant color is pink. Anybody know of a yarn like this?
If not, would it be possible (or feasible) for me to perhaps get a regular yarn and hold it along with, say, metallic sewing thread? I would imagine this would achieve the same result.
I have decided on carrying along the metallic thread. I spent a couple hours looking for decent pink yarn with metallic flecks, and there was none to be found! I found the perfect stuff.
Sounds scrachy. I get some black with matallic gold socks for christmas on year and I never wear them becuse they are scrachy… Maybe you should asker it she would not rather have a scarf so she and her friends can see it…
littleknits.com has the Fortissimo Disco on sale. There is a colorway that is variegated but primarily pink. I used it to make my 4 year old a dress and was very pleased with the yarn… not so much the pattern I used. I bought another skein in a different colorway to make fingerless gloves.
I was just in I Knit and thought of you…they have a gorgeous pink yarn with real silver in it, by Kraemer. Pricey, but it sounds like exactly what you wanted. Beautiful stuff. The color is called “Princess”…of course! You can’t really see the silver in the pic, but it’s beautiful – just enough to be beautiful and glinty and eye-catching, but not so much of it to be gaudy.
As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to let you know…my second thought, even though I’m probably one of the least girly women you’ve ever met, was…“what can I make out of this for ME?!” It’s probably the single most girly yarn I’ve ever seen in my life, but elegantly and beautifully so! Hope you can find it somewhere sane for you!
