Pickup Stitches

I Love this site…Iam a newbie…A quick question on finishing a sweater neckband…I just finished knitting a basic sweater (Patons Beginner Sweater) I do not understand these instructions about picking up stitches. Could someone please help me understand!

Pick up and knit 7sts down left front neck edge. K11 from front st holder. Pick up and knit 7 sts up right font neck edge. (K7). K2tog. K8 across sts from Back st holder. 41 sts.
1st row: (Ws) P1 k1 rep

After picking up stitches what should I do next !

TIA

Here is video on picking up stitches.

After you get all the stitches on your needle, you start with the k, p rib.

Still confused

The neck edge have three seperate sections of stitches (left neck edge, right neck edge and centre) shaped edges. Do I put stitches on one needle or do I work them separate. (K1 P1 ) When putting stitches on one needle the neck loses it’s shape.

You do put them all on one needle. If you have a short enough circular needle, you could do them on that and the neck would be knit in the round.

If you put all the stitches on a straight needle, you do the ribbing for however many rows called for and then put a seam to close them up.

:cheering: I finally got it!

Thanks for all your great advice!
