Picking up stitches

Just double checking…I have the pick up part down…it reminds me of crochet, because you are not ‘knitting’ the stitch but picking it up, right?

So, why do they (the pattern people) say to ‘pick up and knit’? Is the knit part the row after you ‘pick up’, or am I missing something?

Thanks
Katy

Almost all the time, when a pattern says to pick up or pick up and knit it means the same thing–pulling yarn through.

On occasion, as with the clogs, you just put your needle into existing stitches, and those patterns usually are very clear that it’s just picking up.

Ok , Ingrid, thanks so much! My sweater is almost finished!
