i have made a very thick pair of mittens for my dad. they are already felted. at this point, i would like to pick up stitches and knit a cuff/gauntlet to go up his arm. i want to pick up the stitches on the inside of the mitten wrist area, then knit up until they are long enough. the mittens are an olive drab green and i want to knit the cuffs in a contrasting oatmeal color.
any thoughts as to how to pick up these stitches since the mittens are felted now? i was thinking of sort of sewing a dashed line around the cuff and picking up the stitches off of the dashes. but i’m afraid this will look goofy.
any input will be greatly appreciated!
