Picking up and knitting

Hi,

I am working on a jumper and have got to a section in the pattern where is says to pick up and knit the sections on the left and right of the front of the jumper. These have been bound off. I have done this thinking I did it correctly however it turned out that what I did was make a horizontal line in the middle of the 1x1 rib vertical section. Ideally I guess what I need is for it to look continuous? Am I to go through the centre of the (v’s) stitches below the bind off. I didn’t do this and did some other way I saw on you tube but got a feeling this is possible where I went wrong?!

What is the name of your pattern?
If I understand, this is the way to pick up sts on a bound off edge. Just as you thought, go through the center of the Vs.

Thank you for the video. I understand the instructions on the video however my pattern doesn’t seem to match?

This is a photo of the section I’m struggling to understand on how to pick up and knit. I guess I need a video on how to pick up stitches on the front sides of a jumper as the pattern seems to be different?

The pattern instructions are:

The pattern is:

Ok, this video isn’t exactly like your directions (there are no sts to pick up on the sleeve) but it does show picking up along the side of the neck. You’ll be picking up sts at the end of the rows in that section.

You’ll be picking up at the base of the arrows and knitting along with the other neckband sts from the base up in the direction of the arrows.

Thank you. I think this makes sense to continue the pattern rather than ending up with a horizontal bar in the middle of the ribbing pattern like I had last time! Thanks very much for your reply I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for all your help with all your answers. I’ve now completed this section and it looks good
