Picking correct cable length

Pattern just says use size 7 needle. Casting on 92 stitches so I will use circular so they fit. Question, how do you figure out what length the cable should be for 92 CO stitches. That isn’t all that many but my size 7 is a 32 inch length so I’m sure that is probably too long?

It would be too long, but you can still use them. Look on the Advanced Techniques page for a video on Magic Loop, or you can use the single loop technique. These are where you pull the cord out between sts to make the longer circ fit a smaller diameter.

Thanks, totally did not think of that. Wish I had gotten a set of interchangeables when I started knitting instead of buying all different sizes. One day I am going to finally invest in them though.
