Hi there, I am making a sweater that calls for the stitches of the arm to be picked up. I watched a tutorial on how to pick up the stitches but I feel it’s not a completely smooth transition from the body to the arm of the sweater. They appear to be at different heights? What should I do and does this look normal?
This is the sweater pattern: Ravelry
It really looks pretty good. Sometimes these pickups look better after more rows have been worked and after the sweater is washed.
Are you picking up a full stitch in from the edge or a half stitch?
I believe I picked up a full stitch from the edge
OK, then you might try knitting 3-4 more rows to see if it looks better to you. It looks pretty consistent to me, not varying the place you picked up sts by a half or whole stitch.
Hello. I’m not sure what you mean by them looking to be different heights. It looks OK to me. Often a pick up row can be a bit loose which is perhaps what you are seeing. If after doing some more rows you are still not happy, you could try a pick up on a smaller needle, then switch to the correct size for row/round 1.
