I am not really sure how to ask this question so that it will be understandable. Is there an easy way to figure out how many stitches you should pick up from each section and how many rows they should be spaced? I know how to pick up and knit, but I always end up with too many or too few stitches. I try to calculate it, but it never works out for me.
I find it best to mark out the sections into equal parts eg split it in half place pin in quarters place pins then work out how many stitches i need in between each pin so if i had to pick up 40 stitches it would be 10 stitches in each quarter.
That’s a really good idea. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
The general method is to pick up 3 sts for every 4 rows, or if it’s a larger gauge, 2 sts every 3 rows.
