Pick up and knit stiches

hi am new to this hope some one can help when i pick up stiches do i then knit a row many thanks

thank you for your reply but it did not help much when my pattern says pick up and knit do i pick them up and then knit a row

Not really, picking them up is the same as pick up and knit in one action. It used to be that people would pick up stitches with the left needle, then knit them, but now most people do it all in one.
