which a cousin knitted for me as a gift. It is well-worn and well-loved, but still looks pretty good, even though (or maybe because) it was knit with synthetic yarn. It has been through the washer and dryer hundreds of times.
I wish I could knit like this.
That’s so great that you still have/use something that was knitted especially for you so many years ago! Gifts like that really are the best in my opinion … I still have a crocheted baby blanket that was made for me when I was born (almost 25 years ago! 
), and it’s still in great shape too!
Beautiful! And you can knit like that…something that large just takes incredible patience!
That’s really nice and to still look that good after so much use and washings too. I’d like to know what brand of yarn it is just for that alone.
nice looking. But of course you can do stuff like that. It is some stitch patterns that you do, one here, one there. And then sew up. You can do it, and what you don’t already know you can learn along the way.
I do still have a baby blanket, garter stitch, big block stripes of white and black, with tassles along both sides. I am 35 and the last time I saw that blanket at my parents house it looked very good, indeed.
That is why I knit things for people: so they are still there decades after - and they were not there in the least before I started.
I just gave the description of a comfort doll for someone. A nice old lady made me one when I was little. It looks like I used it a lot (and I do remember it in my oy box). When my niece was born, I found this doll, counted the stitches and made one myself. She loves it and I have a pattern recreated from a loved piece, made into a new loved piece and now shared.
That is what craft should be like.
